Natural History Museum of MacedoniaSkopje – Founded in October 1926, at the initiative of the famous scientist in the field of zoology, Dr. Stanko Karaman. Throughout the entire period of its eighty years of existence, the museum focused on activities related to scientific-research activities, the collector activity, exhibition and publishing, as well as the protection of the natural resources of Macedonia. Within the museum, professional and scientific departments are functioning: Botanical department, Unit for invertebrates, entomological, paleontological and department for vertebrates, as well as the preparatory department. The activities in the museum are aimed at studying the flora, fauna and ghetta of Macedonia and the collector activity, thus providing necessary materials for preparing permanent and occasional exhibitions. On the ground floor of the museum, the geological-paleontological exhibition, the botanical, enthomological and exhibition of invertebrates. The trims of Macedonia, the amphibians, birds of Macedonia and mammals were located on the floor. In the Hall for occasional exhibitions, various thematic exhibitions are regulated. The Natural History Museum also has a publishing activity, and the first SP. “Anales”, was released in 1939, which with the start of World War II ceases to go out. The publishing activity starts with the SP. “ACTA” and “Fragment Balzanica” (1953). Later began to go out and the SP. “Special edition” and finally started the issuance of the “Fauna of Macedonia” edition, from which seven numbers have been out.
