Ivanov, Jordan Nikolov (Kyustendil, 6. 1872 – Sofia, 29. ⅶ 1947) – Bulgarian philologist, literary historian, archaeologist, folklorist and ethnographer, member of Ban (from 1909). He graduated from the Slavic Philology of the High School in Sofia (1892) and specialized in Lausanne, Switzerland (1892-1894). He was a professor at the gymnasium in Sliven (1894-1898) and Secretary of the Bulgarian trade agent in Thessaloniki (1906-1908). Later, he continued his career at Sofia University as a French Lector (1899-1906), a freelance professor (1909-1911), regular assistant professor (1911-1916), associate professor (1917-1924), full-time professor and head of the Department after Bulgarian Literature of the Historical and Philology Faculty (1925-1942). At the same time, he was a professor of Bulgarian language at the National School of Living Eastern Languages in Paris (1920-1923) and 1927-1930). He is one of the founders of the Bulgarian archaeological society (1901) and the Archaeological Institute in Sofia (1920). The majority of his scientific research is committed to the past of Macedonia.
