Gavril Radomir.

Gavril Radomir (? – 1015) – Samuel and Agatha son, Macedonian king (1014-1015), Corner and successor of Samuel. In Bitola he had his own mansions and the main residence. With the strength and courage, he was the right hand of Samuel, especially in the war against Byzantium. He participated in all the more important battles he led Samuel against the Byzantines: In the Battle of Trajan’s door (986), the Battle of Sponchi (996), Belasich battle (1014). Twice (in Spichi and Belasica), he saved his father and pulled him out of the battlefield after the lost battles. After the defeat at Belasica, in the Strumica, the Byzantine army defeated the Southwest of Strumica and killed the Thessaloniki Duki Theophilaract Vatani, who led it. He managed his father’s overwhelming territories around Petersko and Island Lake and Pelagonia. After the death of Emperor Samuel, he took over the throne, to which his cousin John Vladislav, son of Aaron, Samuel’s older brother, who thought he had more right. It was also encouraged by the Byzantines, killing his relative to Gavile Lesnovo sanctified his father’s death and take over the throne. Gavril Radomir as ruler lead, mainly defensive policy, endeavoring to preserve the territories he inherited from his father. He failed to prevent the campaign of Emperor Vasily ⅱ, who won Prilep and the Raec area, and burned his palaces, but the city did not conquer (1014). The Byzantines won the Machelan area (1015). Due to the military supremacy of Byzantium, the accidental internal situation in the country and the open aspirations of John Vladislav on the throne, proposed the conclusion of peace. Emperor Basil ⅱ did not accept. The struggle for power was weakened by the state, Gavril Radomir, although known as a brave and experienced warrior, failed to jeopardize the Byzantines and was forced to constant defensive. He was married with a Hungarian princess, with whom he had the son Peter Deljan. After winning Larissa (985/6) he married the beautiful Irina, and the pregnant Hungarian princess expelled him from the state.
