Toshev-Lefter, Pere

Toshev-Lefter, Pere (Peter) (Prilep, 1865 – p. Faris, Tikvesh, 4 ⅴ 1912) – Teacher, Duke, participant in the Ilinden Uprising. He finished elementary school in Prilep, a gymnasium in Plovdiv (1885). He taughted in Prilep (1892-1901), Skopje, Bitola and Thessaloniki. In Bitola was the first president of the Orc of the MRO. He was a member of the MRO of 1894, and a member of the TMORO CC became from 1898. After the Thessaloniki affair (1901) was sentenced to 101 years. And attached to the prison in Basale Kale, Asia Minor. After the amnesty (1902) he returned to Thessaloniki, and hence in Bitola and Prilep, where he lived half illegally. Although he disagreed with the decision for insufficiently prepared uprising, he actively participated in the Ilinden Uprising. He attended Prilep (1904) and the Rila Congress (1905), where he was again elected a member of the Center of the VMORO. After the Young Turk Revolution, he became an Exarchical School Inspector in Thessaloniki District (1910-1911). Preded and followed by the ascer, was killed in ambush in Drenovo Klim Toshev Sura.
