Poptergiev-Berovski, Dimitar (Berovo, 1840 – p. Lower Grassnica, Kyustendil, 19. He was educated in Berovo, in Thessaloniki, Russia (Odessa, 1858-1860, in the spiritual academy) and Serbia (Belgrade, 1861- 1865, in a military school). After the end of the military school (1863) he became a NCO in the Serbian army. He returned to Macedonia (autumn 1875) in Berovo as a teacher and started a national revolutionary activity. He led the struggle for rejection of the church power of the Greek Constantinople Patriarchate and the renewal of the Ohrid Archbishopric. Organized rebellion in Berovo (1874). In Thessaloniki (1875) he founded a secret revolutionary committee for lifting uprising. In the s. Razlovci (mid-ⅳ 1876) was held counseling on which a resolution for lifting the uprising in Maleshevo was adopted and from there to spread and grow into a common Macedonian liberation uprising. For the chief duke, the leader of the uprising, Dimitar Berovski was elected. The uprising was raised at 8/20. Ⅴ 1876 The establishments were extended in Kocani. Berovski’s attempt to extend from Maleshevo in Radovish and on the interior failed. The uprising remained locally, mainly on the space of Maleshevo and was struggled. Berovski preserved the rebellion core (1877 and early 1878), moving with the company between Pijanech, Maleshevo, Gornoduma, performed occasional attacks. With the company of Macedonian volunteers in the Russian Army (and 1878), led by Ilo Mar-Maleshevski, disarmed the Muslim population in Pijanech and part of Maleshevo, the Ottoman and established Macedonian power was removed for two months. Before the occurrence of the Ottoman army units Dimitar Berovski with the company retreated to Jumai, in the mountainous Obestra Kharashjak. Berovski traveled to Sofia (at the beginning of ⅹ 1878) to inform the Russian Groorator Albin for preparations for lifting an uprising in Macedonia. The uprising began with the attack on the Ottoman garrison in craved (5/17. J), with the ultimate goal of Macedonia and the creation of a Macedonian state. In the liberated village of Vlachi (7. J), a headquarters of the Macedonian uprising, Berovski was elected as head of the headquarters, and a police department was formed. The free territory was created fully structured Macedonian power, normally regulated by the rules-constitution of the Macedonian rebellion committee. In order to prevent the independent development of the uprising and the creation of a Macedonian state, the Bulgarian factor organized liquidation of the first duke Stoyan Karastov and removal of Dimitar Berovski from the management of the uprising. He was called in Jumia and there indoors (at the beginning of ⅺ 1878). Released (1. ⅹⅰⅰ), he returned to the free rebellious territory. For a short time established unity in the establishments, the uprising was a new boom. Berovski was again removed from the uprising (before the end of and 1879) and was held in the prison in Jumiah. After the uprising Berovski, he was acquitted with the family in Bulgaria, in Kyustendil. After the creation of the MRO, he collaborated with Delcev in organizing secret arms transfer and organizing bombs in the Osogovo Mountain. He died in the village. Lower Grassnica, Kyustendil.
