Mountaineering in Macedonia – occurs in Skopje and Bitola at the beginning of XX. Mountain sections of some tourist organizations were established in Skopje, Bitola, Tetovo, Prilep, Kicevo, Veles, Stip, Kocani and other cities (1927- 1941). Later, some of them grew into special mountaineering companies. Thus six mountain homes were built (1930-1941). After the liberation, mountain societies are established. The Mountaineering company headed by General Mihailo Apostolski and Vice President Dare Dzambaz was established in Skopje (1944). Soon the board was established in FISM (1946), then the Mountain Union of Macedonia (YES, 1948), which had 62 companies with 26,000 members and 26 hiking houses with 950 beds (1975). PSM founded a Goric Rescue Service (1950), organized training courses Cadri, marking on mountain paths, orientation competitions, campaigns, mountain tours, lands, participation in the behavior of youth, alpine and speleological expeditions and in conquering Mount Everest (1984 – 1989). The Mountaineering Federation of Macedonia (since 2002) has boilers for mountaineering, climbing, alpinism and speleology.
