Popovic, Vasilie (Cico) (Shkodra, 12. ⅱ 1914 – Skopje, 10. 1962) – Painter, scenographer and cartoonist, one of the founders of caricature and scenery in the Republic of Macedonia. He graduated from the Art School in Belgrade (1938). It sets the foundations of the Macedonian caricature since 1933. (Motive from the cafe, 1933; Joseph Mikhailovic, 1939; Lazar Lichenoski, 1953). It has a crucial impact on the development of the Macedonian caricature. Shortly showed interest in the scenery. He made modern and striking scenes for the representations in the Macedonian National Theater in Skopje (Aida, 1954; Zarian bird, 1961; Bloody weddings, 1962; Romeo and Juliet, 1962). S. AB.-
