Kurban -. a ritual victim given on a particular occasion. In the distant past, the victims were given to pagan deities, and later they were allocated to the saints, although the Christian church has a negative attitude towards this phenomenon. Kiril Pejcinovic in the work “Mirror” (Budim, 1816), where he speaks of superstition among the people, especially emphasizes the rabbon as something that must not be performed in the Church’s circle. However, Kurban is also given for more holidays that are celebrated with domestic services. It is believed that people, especially young people, is believed, but later this cruel custom was replaced by sacrificing animals (lamb, calf,, so on.). Especially known victim is slaughtering Kurban in the foundation of the house or another larger object. It is believed that every greater construction (house, tower, bridge, etc.) will not be stalled if the victim does not care. Lit.: Marko K.
