John, Angel (? -1244) – Thessaloniki King (1237-1242) and the desk (1242-1244). He came to power with the help of the blind father (King Theodore and), in whose shadow he driven. Nikea King John ⅲ Watattus took his campaign (1242) to Thessaloniki and forced him to give up the king’s crown, admitting the title despot; of that duty died. Lit.: D. M.
