Institute of Physics – One of the Institutes of the PMF, consists of 4 institutes: theoretical physics, physics of condensed matter, optics and spectroscopy and methodology of physics teaching. It originates from the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Philosophy (1946), which grows into the Institute (1955). Since 1958 is within the PMF. From 1977 to 1985 There is a faculty of physics, with an expanded composition, which includes all the activity of physics of UKIM. University classes in physics is performed since 1946, from 1966 in two directions, for teaching and applied physics, and since 2005. Includes several program guidelines (materials and devices, medical physics, theoretical physics, geophysics, meteorology, astronomy and physics and information science). Since 1992/93 There are also studies for teaching professors and physics for primary schools. Postgraduate studies on hard body physics and physical optics have begun in 1969, and later expanded with directions for solar energy, theoretical physics and methodology of physics teaching. The scientific work is in the field of physical optics, physics of hard bodies, theoretical physics, etc. The Institute has laboratories for: electrical characterization of materials, obtaining thin films, ultrasound, electroopotics of dispersion systems, holography, computer laboratory, and also laboratories for education, as well as a library. In recent years, approximately 850 scientific articles, more than 20 university textbooks, several monographs, 12 conferences were organized and was worked on about 60 projects.
