Inscriptions – Entries in Old Slavic language, carved on some hard material. Epigraphic monuments are a very important source of paleographic, linguistic, historical and other aspects. They are of a different genre, but most often tombstones (Samuil’s inscription of 993,, the presidential tombstone of 1060/61) or is the lead. The oldest is Samuil’s inscription of 993. It is found in 1888. In the s. Herman, Prespa. It is a marble plate of size 1, 30 x 0, 67 m, and the inscription contains 11 rows. The inscription is set by Tsar Samuel for memory of his parents Nikola and Ropsimia and Brother David. Bitola inscription from 1015-1016. was found in Bitola in 1956. In the demolition of Chaush-Mosque, where he was used as building material. Now he is kept in the Bitola Museum. There is a record of 5 rows that is, given the archaicity, very well readable, and he reads: “Here is the prince ancestant born in the summer 6505 (= 996/97) dead in summer 6569 (= 1060/61)”.
