Health institution that conducts primary and preventive health care in the field of general medicine, urgent medical assistance, domestic treatment, child protection, youth, women and workers, pneumophotisiological and dental, X-ray and laboratory diagnostics, polyvalent patronage, epidemiological, sanitary hygienic And the social and medical activity, health statistics and drug security. The health center is organized in several services according to the activity carried out. Dispensar and team method of work is applied in the activities. Other specialist-consultative and dispensary activities are also organized. The duty of the health center is to organize delivery with expert assistance – if there is no general hospital in this area. The first homes for folk health on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia were formed during 1927. (In Bitola, Kumanovo, Prilep, Struga, Strumica, Tetovo and Stip) from the previous bacteriological stations (Decree on the organization of the hygienic service, 1927) and especially after the adoption of the Law on Health Centers of 1959. (Fig. Journal of NRM 35/59). From 1965 to 2004, in larger municipalities in Macedonia, health care homes, together with the general hospitals, were part of the medical centers.
