Epirus state

Epirus state (1204-1340) – formed by Mikhail ⅰ Angel (1205-1215) after the crash of Constantinople, on the territory of Durrent to Corinth, with the center in Arta. He reached the greatest power at the time of Theodore and (1215-1230), who seized Thessaloniki (1224) and raised him into the kingdom (1226/1227). Despot Mikhail ⅱ (1237-1271) separated Epirus with Thessaly (1237), and after 1264, when Epirus acknowledged the Byzantine Sazrenate, the areas west of the river have fallen. Vardar, Albania and Corfu. From the time of Nikifor, and (1271-1296), Thessaly (1271) and Etolia (1295) were separated. After the death of the despot Thomas (1296-1318), the dynasty of the angels was extinguished, and the Cefalonian Count Nikola Orsini was prevalent. After the murder of the despot John Orsini (1323-1135) by his wife Anna, she with the son Nikifor ⅱ surrendered Epirus with Akarnania of the Byzantines (1337), and soon he was broken and the last resistance (1340).
