Cycling in Macedonia. A sports discipline that begins with the emergence of the first bicycle in Skopje and Bitola (about 1890). Bicycle club “Pelister” in Bitola (1924) was set up, and then in Skopje, Kumanovo and Veles. Cycling is nurtured in the Sokolsal organization (1919-1941). The Colaing Company “Vardar” was created in Skopje (1941), and in the competitions, Dimitar Bozhinov and Angel Trencev played in the matches. After the liberation, cycling sections (from 1945) were established, some of which grew into separate clubs (after 1948). The Borce Todorovski (1947) was won at the first Road Capital Championship. The races were held “throughout Macedonia” (from 1968) and “Vatastic Memorial” for youth (from 1969). State champivies of heavy rise cycling – awarding the cups (counter) became: Gjoko Ershov (1957), Kariman of Bitola (1959), Ivan Nevov and Trajce Perkovski on a light bike in hilly driving (1969), and Mladen Dappcevski won second place in road driving. Yugoslav representatives were: Aleksandar Kulevski, Slobodan Arsovski and Jusuf Klica. After the independence of Macedonia (1991), the bicycle activities in the country and abroad continued. F. K.
