Byzantine philosophy

Byzantine philosophy – a) period in the history of European philosophy that extends in the timeframe of 330 years. AD Until the fall of the Byzantine Empire in 1453 The general feature of Byzantine philosophy is the mutual interweaving of theology and philosophy. Philosophical ideas are constituted through the essential issues of the historical and religious conditioned Byzantine epoch. Basic philosophical problems are: ontological, gnoseological, anthropological, ethical and aesthetic ideas within the specific Byzantine spiritual life. Apart from the impact of teachings of certain antique philosophers, the influence of Plato and Aristotle is especially recognized. Regarding the originality of Byzantine philosophy, it should be emphasized that the fundamentals of the philosophy of Isihism as an authentic theatropococentric idea on which the important aspects of the spiritual life of the Byzantines (Romey) are clearly. Influential philosophical ideas are those of the School of Fame Cappadocian Fathers: St. Basil the Great, St. Gregory Theologian and St. Gregory Ni-ski, the famous pseudo-Dionysius Areopagite, St. John Ladder, St. Maxim Confessor, St. John Damaskin, Photius Constantinople, St. Simeon New Theologian, St. Gregory Palamas, Prilepca Gregory Akindine, Michael Psel, Georgios Gemistos Plotton and many others. Since many writings of Byzantine philosophers have not been translated, nor are they known through expert editorial of relevant specialists, to date their perceptions remain insufficiently studied. In all Macedonian medieval culture, the Byzantine-Slavic spiritual and philosophical inspiration dominates; b) Teaching subject at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje, whose grounds set Prof. Dr. Jonce Josifovski.
