Ostrkodi

OSTRAKODIES (Ostrazda) – Subclassed Finy Organisms of Class Resistant (SRUSTSEA), which received the name from the Greek word “Ostrikon”, which means “shell”, because at first glance, they resemble small bean-shaped beans. The length of the body does not exceed more than 1-2 mm and it is closed in a two-part bushing, from which only antennas in front and one pair of gentle legs on the rear of the shell. When disturbed, these parts of the body are drawn and the shell is closed firm, so the animal is slowly sinking to the bottom of the water. Some species are great swimmers, but most live at the bottom, crawling along the surface or water plants. Feed with water filtration, keeping feeding particles, and some species are active predators. Widespread in freshwater ecosystems and in the seas. Their shells are used as a basic indicator in the stratigraphy of sediments with different geological age, from the Paleozoic, so S “to date. So far, more than 2000 percent species have been known in the world, two thirds are marine organisms. In Macedonia, the presence of 172 species is registered, most of which live in our three natural lakes. Of the 44 endemic species of sharks in Macedonia, 32 are registered only in Ohrid Lake.
