Reality in Macedonia -. Religious communities and religious groups in Macedonia. In the past of Macedonia, almost all Balkan religion existed, from various multilings, to the Christian and Muslim religion. A number of archaeological remains throughout the territory of geographical Macedonia from all historical periods are preserved. The ancient Macedonians and Payonians also had their own special religion. Among the archaeological findings there are numerous traces of the Hellenic and Roman religion. Christianity in Macedonia was first preached by the apostle Paul and in the past millennium, it became the dominant religion. Now in the Republic of Macedonia, a total of 25 religious communities and religious groups united in the Federation of Religious Communities in Macedonia based in Skopje were registered in the Republic of Macedonia. The most believers has the Macedonian Orthodox Church (over 1,500,000 with 1,502 churches and chapels and 191 monastery), in second place is the Islamic religious community, and the Catholic religious community and the Evangelical-Methodist Church is especially important. The Baptist Church “Joyful Vest”, the Bektasheska, the Evangelical Specian Church, the Jewish religious community, etc. All religious communities play a significant role in coexistence among citizens, respecting the Constitution, laws and canons.
