Velic, Mihailo Merjanov

Velic, Mihailo Merjanov (Debar, March 1875 – Cacak, Serbia, 1941) – folklorist and prose writer, gymnasium professor and companion of the “autonomist movement” in Belgrade. He finished elementary education in the birthplace, and the secondary begins in the Bulgarian high school in Thessaloniki (recorded as Ivan Velev) and continues him in the gymnasium in Belgrade and the Teacher School in Aleksinac in Serbia (1889). It becomes a Serbian teacher in Enjy-Vardar (1898), and in Seres (1900) and over again in Enge-Vardar (1902). Due to the inclusion in the autonomist movement of gr. Hadzitachovic and F. Gjergikovic with c. “Autonomous Macedonia” (1905), he is withdrawn in Serbia and is performing in Serbian villages Jovac, dismissal, Lugal (1907), new pilgregations (1908) and finally in Veles (1913-1941). After the Bulgarian occupation it is transferred to Serbia and dies in Chacak. As a disciple, stimulated by P. D. Draganov in Thessaloniki, collects ethnographic and folklore materials, then (1902) of the Serbian Academy of Sciences submits 103 Macedonian folk songs and publishes ethnographic descriptions, various customs, beliefs, beliefs and oral folk resources from Debar, and 6 books are published under general Title “Overstruct with Yuga”.
