Vasilev, Aleksandar

Vasilev, Aleksandar (Aleko Pasha) (Barakli-Jumia, Sisco, 1890 – Gorno Jumia, 12. IX 1924) – A member of VMRO. He was a teacher in SERKO, Chetnet in the Russian Revolutionary District under the leadership of J. Sandanski, Petrical Duke (1919), chief organizer and head of VMRO in the Pirin part of Macedonia, a close associate of T. Aleksandrov. After 1923 he distanced himself from T. Aleksandrov and accepted the principles of the May Manifesto (1924). He was killed in the Gornoduman killings committed by VMRO of Ivan Mihailov. Lit.: Atanas Jolev, memories.
