Uzunov, Nicholas (village Embore, Aegean part of Macedonia, 12. ⅷ 1930) – Economist, UNIV. Professor, Society, Academician. He lived in Thessaloniki in Secondary Education. The secondary economic school ended in Skopje (1948), and the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb (1954). With a doctorate from economic science, he acquired the University of Nikola Uzunov Belgrade (1959), defending the topic “Industrialization of the People’s Republic of Macedonia and its national income”. He stayed and specialized in several top world universities, such as the University of Oxford, England (1957), Vanderbilt University, USA (1959-1960), Chicago University, USA (1960), London High Economic School, England (1965- 1966), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (1982), Yale University, USA (1984), etc. The Faculty of Economics in Skopje was elected assistant (1954) for assistant (1960), for extraordinary (1966) and for full professor (1972). The undergraduate and lodged studies at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje taught the subjects: Applied Economics, Contemporary Economic Systems, industry economics, economic development policy, development problems of industry, etc. As a freelance professor he taught at the Faculty of Law in Skopje (1960-1964) and the Faculty of Journalism (1979-1996). In the academic 1975/1976 As a visiting professor stayed at the California State University in the city of Chico (USA), where in two semesters performed classes in the subjects: comparative economic systems, coexistence in the multipolar world, industrial democracy – participation – self-management and economic development of underdeveloped countries. In the school year 1983/1984, as a visiting professor stayed at the State University of Missouri (USA), where he held teaching on the subjects: Comparative economic systems and economic development of underdeveloped countries. Was Podka at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje (1963-1965), President of the Association of Economists of Macedonia (1969- 1972), Head of the Department for Scientific Work at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje (1972-1974), Dean of the Faculty of Economics in Skopje ( 1977-1978), a correspondent member of MANU (1979), chairman of the Union of Economists of Yugoslavia (1982), Head of the Institute for Development at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje (1980- 1984 and 1986-1988), regular member of MANU (from 1986), a member of the Association of Economists of Europe (from 1986), secretary of the Department of Social Sciences in MANU (1992-1999), chairman of the Senate of the University “St. Cyril and Methodius “(1998-2000), etc. It also performed numerous socio-political functions, among which more significant are: MP of the Republic Assembly of the SRM (1967-1973), a member of the Executive Council (Government) of the SRM (1967-1971), representative of the SFRY in the International Policy Group in the field The OECD social sciences in Paris (1973-1975), chairman of the expert council for economic issues at the Executive Council of the SRM (1986-1990), a member of the Federal Economic WIT of the Federal Executive Council of SFRY, etc. He is one of the founders of scientific disciplines in the field of developmental and macroeconomic theory and politics in the Republic of Macedonia. It is of particular importance that its contribution to the formation and development of scientific potential in the field of economic sciences. Under His mentoring, they received a number of our famous economists, scientists, university professors and members of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. He is the author of more than 220 scientific and professional papers – textbooks, books, articles, studies and scientific projects – published in the country and abroad. With its impressive theoretical and scientific and research opus, extraordinary high scientific authority, the acquired reputation of a superb economist and pedagogue, immense objectivity, cooperative and responsibility in the performance of working and socio-political functions, is undoubtedly among the comanites of the Macedonian economic science.
