Road network

The road network – consists of extrabar and city. In the outer network includes national, regional and local roads. Mountain roads meet the needs and international communications (But-Sat Label e), and some of them pass through our territory (c. Map of the road network). Through the territory of the Republic of Macedonia there are remains of Roman Roads: Via Egnacia, which from Shkodra through Durres (Durahium), Ohrid (Liczhinidus), Bitola (Heralazlea) and Thessalonica (Thessalonica) leads to Istanbul (Tsonspentinopolis); Part of Via militaris throughout Macedonia: Scio-Thessalonica (Skopje-Thessaloniki) and Heralzleea-stop (Bitola-Stobi). As the first stage in the modernization of the outer road network, the period from 1947 to 1967 may be considered, when 190.5 km were built, reconstruction and railway network in the Republic of Macedonia Irani 522 km and modernized 209.5 km or a total of 922 km roads. Today, the outer road network in the Republic of Macedonia covers 13,360 km, of which: National (state / national) 909 km, regional 3,777 km and local around 9,000 km. International e-roads in the network of state roads enter 549 km (from them as highways are 197 km). Through two European corridor (foreseen as highways), Corridor 10, from the border with the Republic of Serbia to the border with the Republic of Greece, with 192.5 km (Highway 152.5 km) and Corridor 8, from the border with the border to the border With R Albania, with 308 km (highway 64.6 km). In construction is the northern tour of Skopje in the highway profile with a length of 25.2 km. The branch of the Corridor 10d, Veles to the border with R Greece (127 km) is not yet designed as a highway.
