Museum of the City of Skopje

Museum of the City of Skopje (Skopje, 1949) – General Museum, established after the separation from the National Museum. It is dedicated to the history of the City of Skopje and its surroundings, from prehistory to today’s days. As separate departments in it include archeology, ethnology, history and history of art. Founder was the National Board of the Skopje Borough, and today it works under the auspices of the Parliament of the City of Skopje. Since 1970 is housed in the old railway station on 2820 m. It has exhibition space, workshops, offices, laboratories and library. In the past period, through the regular professional work, there have been over 16,000 museum objects. Some of them are exposed in constant settings with ethnological, historical and archaeological content. It also organizes occasional exhibitions from contemporary art. In his assembly, the Depandans Museum of the Old Skopje Bazaar, housed in Suli-An, where he has a permanent exhibition for her past.
