Macedonian – mythical eponymous hero of Macedonia and Macedonians. It is first mentioned in Hesiod, and there are several versions for its mystological origin. In various contradictory sources he is referred to as Sems and Tyia’s son (daughter of Divilion) and a magnet brother, son of Ail, son of Helen and Brother of Dor, son of Ajak, and one of the fifty sons of the Arcad or King of Ematia Likon. There is also a version that he was the son of the Egyptian god Osiris, who left the ruling of Isis, departed to conquer the world along with his sons Macedon and Anubis. When he arrived in Thrace, Osiris killed King Lykurg, and Macedonian proclaimed him as king and left him to rule here in the country that, according to his name, was called Macedonia. The sons of Mako-Don became Eponimi for several areas, cities, mountains and rivers in Macedonia. Dessiodi Tsaremira, Lipsia, 1913; F.
