Gardening – one of the most intense agricultural branches in plant production in the world and with us. Gardening is an old agricultural branch, known to ancient Greeks, Romans, Egyptians and Chinese 3,000-4,000 years ago. In the world, more than 1,000 garden (vegetable) plant species, and about 120 are grown, while 40-50 species are more significant agricultural value. As food garden products are low energy value, but extremely rich in vitamins, mineral substances, organic acids and with anticancer ingredients. It is considered a useful one person to consume 400-500 d fresh vegetables. In our country, a person per day consumes 220-230 d, and the annual consumption per capita is 85 kg. In the Republic of Macedonia, gardening is represented at around 60,000 ha (1985-2002), of which 328 ha in warmed and 4,500 ha in unspecified (elementary) protected spaces.
