Earthquakes in Macedonia – occur relatively often. From 1901 to 1996 In the region to 100 km of the borders of the Republic of Macedonia there were 27 tremors with magnitude exceeding 6 degrees according to the Richter scale of which two were magnitude more than 7. The strongest was the 1904 earthquake. In the region between Pehcevo and craved (now neighboring Bulgaria), followed by the earthquake in Valandovo in 1931. The largest number of human victims and material damages were in Skopje earthquake since 1963. Earthquakes are grouped in three regions, along the border with Albania and the valleys of Vardar and Struma.
