Davina Tower, Chucher (Orman), Skopje – ancient and Early Byzantic city, 12 km north of the center of Skopje. An elongated hill that is dominated above the road and the entrance to the Kacaniga Gorge and rises 200-230 m above the r. Lepenec. The city was composed of Acropolis with an elliptical shape, with a firewall in a solid minor technique (185 x 110 m), and from approximately rectangular northern city, with a central city square – forum (150 x 120 m), covered by a solid minster wall. The total urban area is 4.6 ha. The city owned two one-aisled early Christian churches, one in the Acropolis and one in the northern subtrack. The rich decorative ornamentation of stone architectural elements points mainly to ⅵ c. Revealed: Iron Fibula (the so-called small-scale type) of Hellenistic time and coins from ⅲ- ⅵ c. AD The inscription of a stone plate glorified the victory of Emperor Galient over the Sarmatives (253 or 258), probably near the city. It is assumed that the city of Davina Tower can be identified with one of the Early Byzantine cities Vendendis or Nonunthin. Lit.: I.
