Detaginovski, Thanas Borisov (village Smrdesh, Kostur, 23. ⅶ 1941) – Folklorist, researcher of the Macedonian prose folklore, especially the folk tradition and mythology. After the Civil War in Greece (1948), a child was taken to Tulghesh (Romania), where he started elementary education, and then moved to Kososchenko (Poland), where he finished elementary education (1955). Secondary education ended at Yaroslav (Poland, 1961), and studied Slavic philology in Krakow (Poland) and graduated from the Faculty of Philology in Sofia (1966). He was then a professor of Russian in the high school in Senjava (Poland, 1966-1970). With the family, he moved to Skopje, where he was an assistant, scientific and senior research associate (16. ⅵ 1970 – 31. 1990) and V.D. Director (1988 – 30. ⅳ 1989) at the Institute of Folklore in Skopje. He received his PhD at the Faculty of Philology in Skopje on the topic “Social-class relations in the Macedonian folk tales” (28. ⅳ 1981). He was the editor-in-chief of the SP. “Macedonian folklore” (ⅹⅴⅰⅰⅰ ‡, 35-42, Skopje, 1985-1988). Performed folklore field research throughout the Republic of Macedonia and the municipal emigration in Canada and the United States. The working life was completed by the retirement as a scientific adviser (1990), editor-in-chief of the SP. “Balkanovica” and director (2001-2005) at the Institute of Old Slavic Culture in Prilep. He translated several books from the pole in Macedonian language and vice versa. BIB.
