Demir Kapija – city in Vardar Valley: 3,275 h. (2002). It is located at the entrance to the Demir Kapija Gorge, at the place where R. Bosheva flows into Vardar, at an altitude of about 100 m. It covers an area of 160 ha. It has an optional airline with a medium annual air temperature of 13.6 ° C and an average annual amount of rainfall of 476 mm. In the ancient period, it is mentioned under the name Stonin, which in translation means a narrow or ravine. The Slavic name of the settlement is average, and it is mentioned in 11 and 12 c. Today’s name Demir Kapija gave Turks. For a city was declared in 2004. The population is compiled by Macedonians, and only few Serbs are represented from minorities (34 h.). Demir Kapija is the seat of a municipality that covers an area of 31,106 ha, there are 15 settlements with 4,545 h. The main occupation is the viticulture and the cultivation of early garden crops, especially peppers. In the settlement there is an eight-year school, home for disabled and health station. Al. ST.
