Coco, Dimce

Coco, Dimce (Ohrid, 10. ⅹ 1910 – Skopje, 17. 1993) – The first Macedonian art historian, academician, dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje. He studied the art history group at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. After graduation, before the Second World War he taught in secondary schools in several cities. As a teacher at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje since his formation (1946), Dimce Koco founded the Art History Group, where he worked until his retirement. He dealt with the study of the medieval art of Macedonia, before the S “of the frescoes, and realized significant archaeological research. In science, he suffered a lasting place with the excavations of Clement’s church “St. Panteleimon “in Ohrid, based on the results published in 1948.
