Christmas – one of the greatest Christian holidays. It is celebrated in memory of the birth of Savior Jesus Christ. In the first three centuries, his birth and baptism was celebrated together on 6/19 January as Elegue / Epiphany. The Macedonian people Christmas celebration of the Macedonians in Australia (church “St. Vogorodica-Prure”, Liverpool, Sydney, 2008) celebrates it with great respect. The customs held are the remains of the past, but transformed into a new way of celebration. On the first day of the holiday goes to church, where Liturgy and the news of Christ’s birth are heard. After the liturgy, the faithful believers during the long Christmas posts partake. During these festive days, believers are greeted with “Christ’s born” and reiterate with “truth was born.” The first greeting is communicating the joyful news, and the second confirmation of that news. The first day is usually celebrated in the family circle, and the next two days go to guests and are congratulated primarily.
