APFELBEC, Victor (Viktor Apphelbezk) (Ezerz, Steer, 1859 – Sarajevo, 1. ⅴ 1934) – An entomologist, cholotrologist. As a curator of the State Museum in Sarajevo (1889-1925), one of the largest insect collections in the Balkans. After retirement, he was a freelance entosy of the hygienic office in the city. He explored the fauna of invertebrates and was one of the leading European entomologists. He managed to discover and describe about 500 new forms of insects in the Balkans, including in Macedonia.
