Mavrovo Lake

Mavrovo Lake – belongs to the three largest artificial lakes in the Republic of Macedonia. It was built by Mavrovska Reka in the Mavrovo valley in 1957. The dam is ground-induced clay core. The height of the dam is 61.9 m, the length of the crown of the dam is 210 m, and the breadth of the crown is 6 m. It has a direction of stretching northeast-southwest and in that direction its length is 9.07 km. The largest width of the lake is 2.5 km, and the middle width 1.46 km. The total length of the shores line is 24.7 km, and 2nd railway 13.2 km. The biggest depth of the lake is located right behind the dam and it at the maximum level is 51 m. At the maximum level in the lake, 3 accumulate 375 million m water. The accumulated water is mainly used for electricity generation, then for tourism and recreation, fishing and for growing fish, etc. The hydroelectric power plants and Raven are installed by 169.2 mies.
