World schools – Type schools developed at the time of the revival, and which, according to the content, processes and assets of upbringing and education, differed from (c.) Cell schools. Their phenomenon was conditioned primarily on the needs of economic and social development, but also from the rise of the Macedonian cities and the Macedonian citizens, which became the “more significant factor of cultural-educational life. The first such schools were open in the forties at ⅹⅰⅹ c .: Veles (1838), Stip (1840) and Skopje (1848). Main initiators for opening worldly schools were traders and craftsmen. Their number steadily grew, gradually suppressing cells schools, and thus increased their influence in social life. At the end of the seventies of ⅹⅰⅹ c., Secular schools there were almost in all Macedonian cities and larger villages. There were two types: Basic or (c.) Mutual schools and (c.) Main. They played a significant role in the development of primary and secondary education in Macedonia, and thus a significant contribution to the development of Macedonian society. Lit.: R.
