The development of small and medium enterprises in the Republic of Macedonia – independent, independent entities, employed up to 250 persons (c. Their number is growing rapidly in the entire transitional period (exception is only conflicting 2001). At the end of 2004 The number of registered enterprises exceeded 172,000. But only 49,687 enterprises were active, of which 49,552 fall into the group of SMEs. Unlike early transitional years, when the SMEs were predominantly located in the trade sector, their number in the production sector and other services is growing in recent years. Today, SMEs in the Republic of Macedonia have dominant participation (80%) in the number of employees, created by the business population in the country, in the added value (69%) and in the gross value of the production of enterprises (66%).
