Textile industry – one of the most common industries for the production and processing of textile materials in the Republic of Macedonia. It has a significant role in the development of the Macedonian economy in the last fifty years. In the SFRY Macedonia was a region for development of the textile sector, with capacities for the Yugoslav market and beyond. The transitional period brought problems due to the closure of large chemical fiber production companies (OHIS, Hemteks) as a raw base and loss of traditional export markets. However, restructuring this activity became an industrial branch with significant economic and export potential. In the large number of smaller companies work around 40,000 employees, before the S “in the apparel, representing 25% of industry employees. Companies are usually privately owned, in some and foreign investments (mainly Greek and Dutch capital). In the base textile production most famous are AD. “Teteks” – Tetovo (for Walen type of products), “Veteks” Veles (for cotton birth). Modern strategies are based on maintaining high quality with competitive prices, timely deliveries and compliance with agreed specifications, adequate packaging and knowledge of payment terms. It is invested in modernization by applying computerized machines and introducing systems for quick and efficient production, with guaranteed high quality products.
