Browz (? – 1214) – Macedonian nobleman, master of average (1207-1214), Sevastocrator, relative of the Bulgarian ruling family. He lost the struggle for the emptied Bulgarian throne, after Kaloyan’s death, and refuge in Serbia. With Serbian assistance, he also took a good part of Macedonia with a center on average (1207) and formed independent possession. His power stretched from Skopje to Ohrid and Ber (Veria), to the east to the rule of Alexy Slav. In an alliance with the Epirus, the US-feathered against the Thessaloniki Kingdom (1210). In the decisive battle with lonsens, in the Pelagonija plain, suffered a catastrophic defeat (1211). Together with Lats, Bulgarians and Epirus, prepared for attacking Serbia (1214). After the failure of Sava Namosic to deter him from the planned attack, a plot was organized and he was liquidated (1214). Dimitri Homatian determines his reign as “Tiranny of the Dregovites”, which speaks of the autochthonous character of his power. Lit.: N.
