Sarissa.

Sarisa – a spear in the armament of the Macedonian army. Bi-Lo designed with 24 feet (7.34 m), for practical reasons, the length was shortened at 21 rate (6.4 m). It was the revolutionary discovery of the Macedonian army of King Philip ⅱ. The spear consisted of a baseline (spiked peak) and from the handle. The soldier in the struggle was held by both hands; 4/5 before the body, and 1/5 from the back. The first five rows of the phalanx held the spear horizontally, and the remaining rows of shoulder. When the forefront came, they lowered horizontally, that is, in a fighting position. Lit.: Plutarch, Aleksandar Makedonski, Skopje, 1994, 87. V. ST. Branislav Sarkanyz
