Poors – a large and belligerent Slavic tribe, which settled on Peloponnese (ⅶ c.), In the fertile valley of Laconia, and later retreated to Mount Tiger. Together with the millinos, counted from 20 to 25 thousand people, inhabited a territory of about 750 2 km. They preserved their autonomy until the beginning of IX c., When they were subordinate from Byzantium. They lifted uprights against the Byzantine rule, but failed to return the independence. Lit.: T.
