Pierry

Pieria (Piera) – Ancient Obestel in Lower Macedonia, which covered the narrow seaside belt along the Termoy Gulf, from the mouth of the Republic of Macedonia. Penney in the south, to the mouth of the r. Haliakmon (Bistrica) in the north, and west to Mount Olympus and Piera Mountains. She was inhabited by the Pieriri tribe, and her Eponym is Pierer, the son of Macedon. Ptolemaj and Strabon under Pieria implies the whole coarse to the R. Axius. It is known as the sacred area and homeland of the muses, where the holy cows of Apollo stolen from the little Hermes. She had developed city life with many cities such as: Metone, Pied, Pimplea, Leaver, Heraclay, Fila, etc. The holy city of Macedonians Dion was located in Pieria.
