Petrov, Ivan Nove

Petrov, Ivan Noveov (village Greater Ilino, Demir Hisar, 3. ⅶ 1922 – Skopje, 10. ⅱ 2004) – Full Professor (1961) of the PMF, Institute of Chemistry (retired since 1987). He graduated (1951) of PMF in Belgrade, worked doctoral dissertation in Ljubljana, and defended (1960) of the PMF in Skopje. Besides in Ljubljana, he was on the improvement of King’s Zollege, Neither Kindle and Fisk Universitis, Nahville, Tenity in the United States. He was one of the first two assistants at the Department of Chemistry and the first to begin teaching from the modern content of the chemistry dedicated to the structure of atoms and molecules. The biggest merit is the creation of the infrared spectroscopy laboratory and the start of systematic study of the spectra of various inorganic and organic substances. It can be called a founder of Structural Chemistry in Macedonia. The basic teaching area is Physical Chemistry (besides in Skopje, he taught in Pristina). The basic scientific preoccupation was molecular spectroscopy (in inorganic and organic substances, especially those for which is characteristic hydrogen bonding). From this area, the labor that systematically published, along with its associates, in top world magazines. He has published fifty scientific papers (a significant number being published abroad) and the author is a number of announcements of scientific manifestations. He was head of a larger number of domestic, federal and international projects. He was PMF, Dean of the Chemistry Faculty (in two terms) and head of the Institute of Chemistry.
