Oristers – the Gorno-Macedonian tribe that inhabited the Orestida area. In the late Bronze time lived in the western Balkan area. Hence, in the period of great migrations, they settled in the field of the upper course of the r. Haliaqmon (Bistrica), which was before that was called a model. According to some sources, they were an Epirus tribe, while according to Strabon, finding in a neighborhood of the Macedonians, because of their reputation and power, over time became part of Macedonia.
