Nikiforos, Gregoras (ⅹⅳ century) – Byzantine diplomat and historian. Traveling to a diplomatical mission on the courtyard of Stefan Decankan and passing through a difficult regime around the Struma River, he listened to his companions slopes singing some sad songs (Tragica Meli) for the heroical feats of his folk heroes, which is a testament to the folk epic tradition before the famous Cycles, created in the Ottoman period.
