Neruda, Pablo (Pablo Neruda) (Paral, 12. 1904 – Santiago, 23. ⅸ 1973) – One of the most important Latin American poets, Chilean, left-wing. He published numerous collections of songs, and the literary activity started with love poetry. But it was rapidly oriented towards the social themes of open and fighter execution in Neruda, with emphasized surreal elements and became an important representative of the engaged poetry. Spain’s poem in the heart (1937) is dedicated to the advanced forces of the Republican Spain. The most important is the work of General Song (1950). In it, the author with the biggest rapture sings for the past and for the present of South America and the resentment of the fate of the people. In 1970 he received the Nobel Prize for Literature, and in the 1972 Golden Wreath at the SVP.
