Matak, Manchu

Matak, Manchu (Krusevo, 1920 – p. Whitolista, Mariovo, 25. ⅴ 1944) – Rector, Communist Deper and People’s Hero, Vlach. He was a member of the CPY (1939). In the April war (1941) he was captured as a soldier of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, but managed to escape and returned to Krushevo. As a member of the MK of the CPY in Krushevo (late 1941), due to participation in the strike of monopoly workers, he was arrested (April – June 1942). He was Secretary of the Organization of the KP in Krushevo NOOP “Pitu Guli”, and after his disbandment (in late 1942) it was illegalized in Krushevo, and then transferred to Gostivar and entered the NOOP “Korab” (in the spring of 1943). In the fight with Balists he was captured and conducted in the tyrannical prison. After the capitulation of Italy (8. 1943) he became a commander of the Prilep Chief in the first Macedonian-Kosovo Nawb, and then in the eleventh Macedonian but brigade. He died when attacking the German forces bunker. He was proclaimed for the folk hero of Yugoslavia (1951).
