Manaki, Janaki (village of Avdela, Kostur, 1878 – Thessaloniki, 1948) – Photographer and, along with the elder brother Milton, First Balkan film cameramen (of Vlach origin). He completed the primary Romanian school in his native village and the Romanian high school in Bitola, with particular interest in drawing, calligraphy and photography. He was then a teacher in calligraphy and drawing at the Romanian high school in Ioannina, where together with Brother Milton opened photo studio (1898). After the advent of the native village, together with his brother, he moved to Bitola (1905), where they opened “Atelier for art photography”. From London, they bought the film “Camera 300” (1905), which recorded the first documentary “Weaving” (for the activity of women in their family: Village of wool, spinning, balance and weaving). Jointly registered a number of significant events and moments from everyday in documentaries “Vlach school in Avdela or Open school” (1905), “The celebration of Gjurgeovden,” “Macedonian Ora”, “Vlach Wedding”, “Macedonian Wedding in Bitola”, “Vlachs Nomadi – Karakachani”, “repression on the Macedonian population in Bitola”, “The celebration of St. Cyril and Methodius “(1905-1908),” Fair in Sveta Sunday in Bitola and other places “(1907),” Valence of Ilindens “(1908),” Sultan Mehmed Resit in Thessaloniki and Bitola “(1911), etc. . After Bulgarian Occupation of Bitola was interned in Bulgaria (1916). After returning, along with Brother Milton, Bitola opened cinema (1918). He later moved to live in Thessaloniki (1935), where he died. It is a large part of the remedy of photos and film materials – about 100 short film records and reports with about 1,600 meters of film strip of 35 mm, 18,513 photo negatives and 17,854 photos.
