Macedonian Philharmonic – The only institution for symphonic musicization in the Republic of Macedonia. As the date of her birth is considered 24. ⅺ 1944 when a group of musicians headed by conductor Todor Skalovski, and following the directive of the then Agit Prop, he decides to establish a symphony orchestra. Originally composed of thirty musicians, conducted by conductors T. Scalovski and T. Prokopiev, initially performed on various adequate festivities, academies and similar manifestations, and the first public symphony concert under the conduct of T. Scalovski was held at 15. ⅹⅰⅰ 1945 Under various names and with different functions (Skopje Philharmonic, State Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Radio-Skopje, Orchestra of the opera of the MNT), finally in 1960. It becomes an independent Republican institution under the name Macedonian Philharmonic. For more than six decades, it is a successful representative and irreplaceable factor for affirmation of music in the Republic of Macedonia and beyond its borders. With domestic and foreign top conductors and soloists, the Macedonian Philharmonic was in several countries of Europe and in Central and Latin America. Its repertoire are a huge number of symphonic, vocal-instrumental and chamber works of classical, contemporary and domestic creativity.
