Kemal-Ataturk, Mustafa (Thessaloniki, 19. ⅴ 1881 – Constantinople, 10. Xi 1938) – First President of the Republic of Turkey. He was educated at the military school “Rushde” in Thessaloniki, at the Military Academy (Ascers Idadisi) in Bitola (1896/1897 -1898/1899) and in Constantinople. He was served in Thessaloniki, as a military inspector of the railway line Thessaloniki-Skopje and Thessaloniki-Bitola (1907-1910). He participated in the Young Turk Revolution (1908), in counterrevolution (1909), in the Ottoman-Italian war (1911-1912), in the Balkan (1912 -1913) and in the First World War (1914-1918).
