Gavril ⅰ – (Ioannina, ⅹⅴⅰ c.) – Ohrid Archbishop (1572-1588; 1592-1593). He participated in the church councils in Constantinople, who were convicted of the new Gregorian calendar (20. 1582) and Patriarch Pahomy Poucher (ⅱ 1585). He was one of the first Ohrid heads traveling to Europe with political goals: he demanded material assistance, but wanted to encourage European countries for war against the Ottoman state. He stayed in Russia and Western Europe. In Russia he traveled accompanied by the Pelagonia-Prilep Metropolitan The stay coincided with the act when Moscow Metropolis grew (1593) in Patriarchate and obtained autocephaly.
