Drying of the tree – a system of methods and techniques for removing unnecessary water (moisture) from the tree. Reduction of water in the tree is performed by drying. For drying the massive wood used the following ways: drying without bringing heat and drying by bringing heat (artificial-thermal drying). The first group includes: natural (atmospheric), mechanical and biological drying. The second group includes: Convective and contact drying, radiation drying, with superheated water vapor, high-frequency electricity, in vacuum, hydrophobic fluids, solar energy and chemical means. The greatest practical application have natural drying (open space, under stroke or a combination of both) and the convective method (drying in special objects – dryers). In addition to the drying of the massive wood, there are methods and techniques for drying of veneers and wooden ideals. Drying of veneers is done by artificial route in dryers (in some seated veneers and naturally), while drying of wooden echoes is done only after artificial route. B. Il.
