Chess Olympics

Chess Olympic Games (Skopje, 1972). In September & October 1972 The jubilee XX Olympics for men with the participation of 63 teams from all continents, and the first time, a female chess Olympiad is held with the participation of teams from 23 countries. Chess Olympiads are organized by an honorary board and organizational committee under the auspices of the President of the SFRY J. B. Tito. The medals of XX Male Chess, the Olympics received: the Golden USSR, the silver Hungary and the Bronze SFRY. The Yugoslav national team played within: St. Gligoric, B. IVOV, L. Ljubjevic, A. Matanovic, M. Matsalovic and J. Roucava. On ⅴ Women’s Olympiad Medals divided the USSR, Romania and Hungary. At the time of the Olympics, the 43rd Congress of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), as well as the first Congress and the tournament of chess problematic and ⅵ Congress of the International Association of Journalists (APEP). On the occasion of the Olympics PTT of Yugoslavia issued two suitable stamps.
